“We have proved that FläktEdge works really, really well. The client is very happy with what we have achieved together”.
Trafikverket
Following a regional office renovation and move to open-plan working, the Swedish Transport Administration faced ventilation noise and indoor climate issues. FläktGroup helped improve comfort, indoor conditions and building performance.
Project Highlights
Details & Challenges
When Trafikverket, the Swedish Transport Administration, renovated its regional office in Luleå, Sweden, it transformed the workplace from traditional cellular offices into a modern open plan, activity-based environment. While the new layout supported greater flexibility and collaboration, it also introduced challenges that impacted occupant comfort. Excessive ventilation noise and inconsistent temperatures became significant concerns for employees.
To address these issues, Trafikverket turned to FläktGroup and the FläktEdge platform. By providing detailed monitoring, analysis and control of every component within the ventilation system, FläktEdge enabled precise optimisation of indoor climate conditions. The result was a quieter, more comfortable workplace, improved building performance, and greater tenant satisfaction, all achieved with a strong focus on energy efficiency.

Goals:
The project's objectives were to reduce ventilation-related noise, improve indoor climate and occupant comfort, gain greater visibility into building performance, and increase energy efficiency.
Our Solution:
FläktGroup implemented FläktEdge, Wega II chilled beams, and Optivent Ultra VAV dampers to optimise ventilation and indoor climate. The solution reduced noise levels by up to 12 dB(A) while improving comfort, energy efficiency, and system visibility.
Products:
FläktEdge Control System, Wega II Chilled Beams & Optivent Ultra VAV Dampers.
What Our Client Had to Say
"We have experienced that the tenants are happier with the building now. The noise from the ventilaiton, which previously led to service requests, is gone."
- Conny Brännström, Diös Fastigheter.
Project Stakeholders Share Their FläktEdge Success Story
In this video, key project stakeholders share their experiences of transforming the indoor environment at Trafikverket's regional office.
They discuss the challenges encountered following the transition to an open-plan workplace, the solutions implemented with FläktEdge, and how intelligent ventilation control improved comfort, performance and energy efficiency. They also explain how FläktEdge can be configured in a fraction of the time required for a traditional building management system.

The Challenge: Creating Comfort in a Modern Workplace
When Trafikverket renovated its 14,000 m² regional office in Luleå, Sweden, the organisation transitioned from traditional cellular offices to a modern open-plan, activity-based workplace designed to support collaboration and flexibility. However, following the refurbishment, employees experienced several indoor environmental challenges that affected comfort and satisfaction.
The most significant issues were excessive ventilation-related noise and temperature inconsistencies throughout the building. With approximately 400 employees using the space, creating a comfortable and productive indoor environment became a priority. Trafikverket also lacked detailed visibility into how the ventilation system and wider building environment were performing, making it difficult to identify the root causes of problems and optimise operations effectively.
The Solution: Intelligent Ventilation Optimisation with FläktEdge
To address ventilation noise and indoor climate issues at its renovated regional office, Trafikverket selected FläktGroup's FläktEdge platform. FläktEdge provides detailed monitoring, analysis and control of every component within the ventilation system, enabling precise optimisation of indoor climate conditions.
Using the insights provided by the platform, Trafikverket was able to improve occupant comfort while enhancing overall building performance. The solution also supported greater energy efficiency and contributed to a quieter, more comfortable workplace with higher tenant satisfaction.
A key advantage of FläktEdge was its simplified configuration process, which required only a fraction of the time typically associated with a traditional building management system (BMS), enabling faster implementation and delivery of results.
