Powering Up Sustainability Through Global Collaboration with Samsung Electronics

Published

In an increasingly complex sustainability landscape, meaningful progress depends on strong global collaboration. Through its partnership with Samsung Electronics, FläktGroup is accelerating its impact and advancing a shared commitment to sustainable innovation.

FläktGroup Working on Holistic Sustainability Impact

FläktGroup sees that sustainability cannot be reduced to a single metric or decision. Genuine sustainability requires a holistic perspective: one that considers entire lifecycles, balances complex performance trade‑offs, and addresses the full product footprint from materials and manufacturing to use, maintenance, and end‑of‑life.

By assessing emissions and environmental impacts across the full value chain and over the full lifetime of our solutions, FläktGroup delivers smart, sustainable solutions that create lasting value for customers, partners, and society.

Accelerating Impact Through Collaboration with Samsung Electronics

This holistic approach relies on strong foundations: transparent data, global compliance, robust governance, consistent methodologies, and skilled teams capable of managing complexity across global operations and value chains.

As part of Samsung Electronics, FläktGroup is strengthening these foundations: developing shared approaches to transparency, data management, capability building, and governance that allow sustainability to be measured, managed, and continuously improved.

“Being part of a global sustainability dialogue enables faster learning and continuous improvement, helping us raise the quality, consistency and impact of our sustainability work while staying focused on what matters most for our customers,” says Jekaterina Lindberg, Global ESG Director at FläktGroup.

Global Sustainability Workshop: Sharing Direction and Insight

As part of this collaboration, FläktGroup and Samsung Electronics teams have met both online and in person to discuss their respective sustainability priorities, challenges, and opportunities.

Represented by Global ESG Director Jekaterina (Kata) Lindberg, FläktGroup has engaged with sustainability leaders from across Samsung Electronics’ global organisation, alongside central corporate sustainability and EHS teams.

The discussions have focused on sustainability strategies and data management practices, as well as ongoing collaboration in navigating an increasingly complex global regulatory landscape and evolving customer expectations.

“The workshop highlighted the strength of a global sustainability community that works toward shared priorities, while still allowing the flexibility to address market‑ and region-specific challenges.” Jekaterina Lindberg, Global ESG Director at FläktGroup summarises.

Joining Samsung Electronics’ Sustainability Journey

Samsung Electronics’ 2025 Sustainability Report highlights solid progress across environmental, social and governance priorities, while recognising that sustainability is a long‑term journey. Building on its New Environmental Strategy, the company continues to advance toward net‑zero ambitions through operational improvements, technology and expanded use of renewable energy.

By the end of 2025, Samsung’s Device eXperience (DX) Division had reached a 94.8% renewable energy transition rate toward its 2030 net‑zero scope 1 and 2 target, while average power consumption for representative models in 7 major product categories had been reduced by 34.4% compared to 2019. Progress in circularity is also evident, with recycled materials now used in 33.7% of plastic parts.

Building on this foundation, FläktGroup is actively working with Samsung Electronics through close knowledge sharing, joint preparation for sustainability reporting, and alignment of targets to support measurable and meaningful change. At the same time, FläktGroup retains a clear focus on topics and impacts specific to its own operations and value chains, including the evolving expectations of key customer segments such as data centres, ensuring that collaboration strengthens both alignment with the owner and relevance to our markets.

Sustainability in Action at Samsung Electronics

A clear example of Samsung Electronics’ sustainability impact is the Samsung Global Goals app, preinstalled on Samsung Galaxy devices. Developed in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the app raises awareness of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and enables users to support global causes directly.

Samsung Electronics matches every donation made through the app, effectively doubling its impact. To date, nearly 50 million monthly active users have participated, generating approximately USD 22 million in donations — matched by Samsung Electronics with an additional USD 4 million.

This initiative highlights how technology, engagement, and partnership can translate sustainability ambition into real-world impact.
