Q&A with Frank Silva
Can you tell us about your role at FläktGroup?
I joined FläktGroup at the end of January as Director of Product Management for US Data Centers. My role is really about making things easier - for our customers and for our sales teams. That means introducing more structure and standardization, simplifying our product offering, and ensuring everything we do is clear, usable and easy to understand.
What experience do you bring to the role?
I have 18 years of experience in HVAC and product management, including a long career at Carrier. My background spans sales, aftermarket, mechanical engineering and business, which gives me a well-rounded perspective. This role is a new challenge for me, but it's one I felt well prepared for.
What attracted you to FläktGroup?
FläktGroup’s ambition really stood out. There is huge potential in the data center market, and the Samsung connection is also very exciting - they are a major global player, so anything they are involved in is significant. It’s a great opportunity to be part of something that is growing and evolving. It’s a bit of a risk, but that’s part of what makes it exciting.
What are your key priorities right now?
One of my main priorities is ensuring our product offering truly meets customer needs. The US data center market leads globally, but every customer has unique requirements - so we need to stay flexible and continue refining our products.
We also have a lot of information available for our sales force, and we need to make sure it's clear, accessible and practical. Ultimately, it’s about making life simple - ensuring our products are easy to understand, specifications are usable, and customers are guided smoothly towards choosing our solutions.
How are you working across the business to achieve this?
Collaboration is key. I work closely with multiple teams, including engineering, factory, procurement and finance, to ensure alignment across the business. Our products are strong.
What excites you about the data center industry?
It’s a dynamic and constantly evolving market. For example, we’re seeing a shift from traditional air cooling to liquid cooling solutions. Not only is the overall market growth intense, but so is the constant innovation and new developments that go along with it. We need to stay on top of these changes, embrace them, and be ready. Change is inevitable - so preparing for it is essential.
What do customers expect from FläktGroup?
Our customers expect reliability, efficiency and sustainability. They want solutions that perform well while also reducing environmental impact. Meeting those expectations is central to how we develop our products.
How important is global collaboration within FläktGroup?
It’s extremely important. Although the company has three data center teams, we work closely with our colleagues in Europe and Asia, sharing knowledge and experience. When we collaborate effectively, we can develop better solutions and ensure success across all regions.
