Q&A with Eric Williams
Can you tell us about your role at FläktGroup?
I’m the Director of Commercial Operations for US Data Centers. Our team really sits at the center of everything — I often describe us as the hub at the middle of the wheel, helping keep it turning. We work closely with customers as well as internal teams across sales, engineering, manufacturing, and commissioning.
We act as a central point of contact for clients. They know us by name and know they can come to us — and we will help. That familiarity and consistency are really valued, but it also means we have to be incredibly organized to keep the back end of the organization running smoothly.
What attracted you to FläktGroup?
I wanted to be part of something meaningful and impactful — a company that’s striving to be best-in-class in the data center space. FläktGroup offered that opportunity, and it’s exciting to be part of a business that’s growing and evolving in such a critical industry.
Can you share a bit about your career journey?
I started out in plastics manufacturing as a Manufacturing Engineer before moving into HVAC sales. Over time, I worked with companies like Nortek and Johnson Controls, where I became a leading salesperson, working on large-scale contracts across sectors like K-12, Higher Education, Hospitality, and Healthcare.
Eventually, I transitioned into data centers — which is where I am today.
What led you to the US data center market?
Beginning my career in Illinois, then Utah, my family and I decided to relocate to Texas — it’s where there’s a lot of energy and momentum around data centers. It’s a bigger stage, with real excitement and opportunity.
Right now, the US is at the center of the global data center market. Many of the key decision-makers are based here, and what happens in the US often influences the rest of the world. That’s where many of the largest, most influential organizations in our industry are headquartered — and we’re positioning ourselves to be right there with them.
How do you see the market evolving?
Demand isn’t slowing down anytime soon. It might shift geographically over time — perhaps moving more into Asia-Pacific — but globally, the need for data centers will continue to grow.
At FläktGroup, we’re in a great position. We have strong teams across all three major regions — the US, Europe, and Asia — and we work closely to serve the needs of our clients.
What excites you most about the future?
There’s a lot to look forward to, particularly now that we are a Samsung company. With them backing us, I anticipate additional investments in the initiatives we have going in the US, now and in the future.
What does working in this industry mean to you?
We’re part of the digitalization of the world, and that’s something I’m really proud of. The work we’re doing in data centers helps shape the future — and ultimately makes life better for all of us and generations to come.
