FläktGroup is committed to building a more sustainable HVAC future — from low-carbon technologies to circular product design, our ESG strategy is driving real change across the industry.

Delivering sustainable HVAC solutions for the evolving needs of modern-day buildings.
Whether you’re an HVAC engineer, property developer, facility manager or designer, this update offers clear and actionable insights into how we are helping the industry, and its many stakeholders meet the high demands of today’s performance standards.
What our Sustainability Statement focuses on
1. Climate Impact
From our own operations to the energy performance of our products, climate-conscious decision-making is embedded across the company. We’re continuing to improve our carbon footprint data and helping to enable customers to lower theirs with low-carbon-ready solutions that align with both Ecodesign directives and national funding programmes.
We’re actively working to reduce our carbon footprint but also our clients too. We helped one client cut 2,960 tonnes of CO2 by upgrading air technology across 12 sites, this shows how our solutions can make a real impact.
Furthermore, to support sustainable cooling we are offering R32 refrigerant with Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 675, which meets EU Taxonomy’s environmental criteria. You can read more about R32 in our article: FläktGroup’s Refrigerant strategy for sustainable integrated cooling in AHUs | FläktGroup
These efforts are part of our broader strategy to offer sustainable HVAC solutions that reduce environmental impact while enhancing performance.
2. Resource Efficiency
We’re designing products and systems that use fewer resources and deliver more long-term value. This includes extended product lifespans, smarter material use, and modular construction to support easy maintenance and reduction of waste. It is a step toward a more circular HVAC future – one that we’re proud to shape.
Our products now contain between 17-30% reused or recycled materials, with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) available for key chilled beam models like iQ STAR WEGA II, LYRA II, ORION II and NOVA II. And more recently our eQ range of Air Handling Units (AHUs) now have EPDs as well. Explore the eQ Prime range here: eQ Prime Air Handling Unit | FläktGroup
EPDs provide transparent data that support sustainable HVAC solutions and help engineers and planners make informed decisions.
Healthy air is at the core of everything we do. From energy efficient AHUs to high-spec filtration systems that align with ISO 16890 and EN 16798, all our solutions are built to promote cleaner more comfortable, and more controlled indoor environments.
3. Health and Well-Being
We know that a safe and supportive working environment is essential not only for individual well-being but also for long-term business productivity. Our integrated management system ensures all production sites operate under robust safety protocols. This system is aligned with ISO standards, and we are actively expanding certification coverage with our Woods Air Movement site in Colchester aiming for ISO 45001 certification in 2025.
In 2024, 86% of our operations were covered with ISO certification, and our Woods Air Movement site in Colchester received the prestigious RoSPA Gold Award for health and safety excellence. You can read more about it here: Proactive safety measures wins RoSPA gold for Woods Air Movement | FläktGroup
We track key health and safety metrics including lost time injury frequency rate (LTIFR), which stood at 4.92 in 2024, and total days lost due to work related injuries amounted to 507. We strive for zero accidents, and we prioritise continuous improvement through structured feedback surveys and internal audits.
4. Governance and Transparency
As building regulations continue to evolve and become stricter, so does our commitment to compliance and accountability. With ongoing expansion of our EPDs and sustainability training, we’re working to make data-driven decisions easier for engineers, planners and procurement teams alike.
In fact, our online ESG learning module for staff, which has been made available for many languages, has been a great success so far. With over a quarter of employees completing the training in just one month of its launch.
In 2024, we recorded zero convictions or fines related to anti-corruption and anti-bribery laws. We also initiated EcoVadis for supplier risk assessment and management.
This transparency supports the adoption of sustainable HVAC solutions across the supply chain and ensures our partners can rely on verified data.
How does this benefit you
Each of these focus areas supports smarter decisions and more resilient operations for a wide range of industry partners:
- Architects, planners and developers benefit from early-stage guidance and compliant-ready systems
- Buildings owners and facility managers gain transparency and long-term efficiency
- Installers and service providers work with modular, optimised and service friendly equipment
- HVAC engineers can select performance-driven systems with supporting documentation like EPDs and LCAs – By 2026, we aim to have 95% of our product portfolio covered with LCAs and published EPDs
All stakeholders benefit from indoor air quality solutions that meet modern standards for comfort, safety and sustainability.
Looking Forward
Our Sustainability Statement reinforces our commitment to being partner that not only understands air technology but is actively shaping a more sustainable future for it.
As we continue developing smarter, more efficient solutions for every stage of the building lifecycle, we remain focused on delivering both performance and purpose.
Key steps we’re taking to support this vision:
- Expanding EPD coverage to 95% of products by revenue by 2026, supporting transparency and environmentally conscious decision making
- Preparing for the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and proactively implementing European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS)
- Launching smart control systems like FläktEdge to improve HVAC energy performance and efficiency
- Embedding circular economy principles into product design, packaging and service offerings
- Investing in sustainable HVAC solutions such as Liquid-DENCO and UltraSafe technology
- Improving indoor air quality solutions through advanced filtration, clean room design and ISO compliant systems
- Developing sustainability metrics for our product offering to improve transparency and support lifecycle analysis
- Implementing sustainability criteria across procurement, R&D and new product introduction (NPI) to embed environmental responsibility into core business processes
These actions reflect our long-term commitment to sustainability, innovation and stakeholder value.
