Meet Robert - Assembler

Hi Robert, you work in our production as an assembler. Tell us about your role.

I work on P30 and assemble both cassettes and casings, for internal needs as well as for customers. At the moment, I’m assembling rotary heat exchangers in a specific group.

What makes working in our production so enjoyable?

It’s because the work is very varied — and mainly because of my colleagues. For me, having people around you that you enjoy working with is absolutely essential; it makes the job much more fun.

What is the most important thing to keep in mind when working with the small details in your job?

My job isn’t very fiddly, but when we testrun the units, we do work with cables. Then it’s important to be precise. Accuracy is generally always important in the kind of work I do.

Can you describe a moment when your fine touch really made a difference in a project?

When building a sectorised unit that is fully assembled, precision is crucial. You have to adjust each spoke with the right feel, use a crowbar, and tighten at the right moment to achieve the exact measurement. There can only be a twomillimetre margin — that’s when you need that fine touch.

What is most important in your role?

The most important thing in my role is that everyone in the department feels good. A positive atmosphere means we work better together. Teamwork is something I value highly.

What made you choose FläktGroup as your employer, and how long have you been working here?

It was actually FläktGroup that chose me! When I finished upper secondary school, it was difficult to find work. The year was 1983, and the local council was helping young people enter the job market. They sponsored companies that took on young people, and that's how I ended up at FläktGroup. I was under 18, so I wasn’t allowed to work with the machines — instead, I assisted in the inspection department for three months.

After those three months, my employment ended, but the following summer FläktGroup called and asked if I had a job. I didn’t — so they offered me a position. And since then, I’ve stayed — for 42 years!

What do you appreciate most about working at FläktGroup?

Definitely the colleagues and the positive atmosphere in the team. That’s one of the many reasons why I’ve stayed here for 42 years.

For me, team spirit is the most important. It’s about shared responsibility — helping, supporting, and caring for each other.
