Meet Anna - Controlling

From Controller to Problem Solver
We’re delighted to introduce Anna Harreiter who has been working as a Controller for FläktGroup in Gaspoltshofen, Austria for the past 11 years.
1. Why did you choose to join FläktGroup ?
After completing my business studies I was looking for a job in controlling in the region. At that time FläktGroup didn't yet exist. The then GEA Klimatechnik was looking for a versatile junior controller and I was really attracted to the position as it was varied and offered a diverse range of tasks from monthly closing, budgeting, acting as a contact for tax advisors and auditors to supporting these tasks at the Eastern European subsidiaries.
2. What do you like most about working here?
There are always new projects and so it never gets boring. And what's even more important to me are my great colleagues.
3. What qualities are critically important in your role?
You need to have an open mind and be analytical and able to use entrepreneurial thinking. Being able to stick to a deadline is vital and it does no harm to be curious and persistent - a colleague once called me Sherlock Holmes as I am always able to get to the bottom of things with some investigation if needed.
4. How do you manage to juggle being a new mum with your role?
The biggest challenge is getting the juggling right - not the work itself. I need to be sure to organise my day in the best way possible - dropping off at daycare, getting to work on time, getting to pick up on time, having a plan for if my child is sick and so on. Sometimes I do miss the days when I just got started without a plan but I'm loving being part of the team again and doing the work I trained hard for.
5. What does your day typically look like?
This varies depending on the day and the time of the year or the month as well as what projects we currently have underway. Currently I am often in contact with different departments to advance projects like inventory optimisation. Or on other days I'm working on meeting deadlines, like billing for services. Really no two days are same.
