Courses Available
1) Low Carbon Air Handling Units
Our presentation reviews the new requirements of the ERP legislation, which becomes law on 1st January 2016, and the requirements of Part L 2013 (enacted in April 2014) as they relate to Air Handling Units.
We then go on to discuss how to reduce energy consumption associated with Air Handling Units. The discussion is informed by information published by the Carbon Trust, The Ecodesign Directive, The NCM modelling guide, Part L and in European Standards BS EN 1886 and BS EN 13053. LCC savings are demonstrated by our Eurovent certified LCC program.
2) Smoke Shafts: A Practical Guide
Our presentation investigates mechanical smoke extract shafts as a Fire Engineered solution for means of escape and fire fighter access. We will demonstrate that for many residential buildings there is a commonality between designs that allows for some simplification of the design process.
The Fire Engineered solution shall reference the latest building regulations and guidance documents to ensure best practice of design and correct acceptance criteria. CFD Analysis of the building structure is also discussed to demonstrate the flow of smoke during operation.
We shall introduce a simplified solution for typical building designs for a complete package offer based on an easy selection tool and a modular approach for customisation with the site conditions.
3) Active Chilled Beams and Demand Controlled Ventilation
Our presentation investigates active Chilled Beams and how they work. It explains the design advantages of beams and how using this option can help with maintenance costs, running costs & capital cost savings.
Other areas that will be covered include:
- Demand Control Ventilation
- Static Pressure Control
- Controlling DCV and Chilled Beams
- Designing the system
4) Designing a Smoke Control Car Park System
Our presentation investigates all areas of designing a Smoke Control Car Park System. Topics Covered include:
- Understanding Thrust Fan capabilities
- Considerations for both smoke clearance and smoke control
- Optimal thrust fan positioning
- How to design for smoke control
5) Introduction To Plug Fan Technology
Our presentation investigates the benefits of plug fan upgrades. Topics Covered include:
- Introduction to AHUs
- Traditional AHU Fan Technology
- EC Plug Fans
- Centrifugal Fans
- Energy Saving
6) Study of the Effects of Fire within Residential Apartment Blocks
Our presentation investigates the study of the effects of fire within residential apartment blocks. Topics covered include:
- Natural ventilation using a 1.5 m² smoke shaft
- Pressurisation system
- Natural vs Mechanical
- The effect of adverse wind pressures
7) Indirect Evaporative Cooling for High Load Density Areas
Our presentation investigates the evolution of free cooling systems to meet current data centre requirements. Topics covered include:
- The Application Environment
- Direct and Indirect Free Cooling
- System Operation
- Which (If Any) Refrigerant?
- Design Features
- Energy Efficiency
8) Mission Critical Applications
Our presentation investigates designing laboratory and archive store systems. Looking at the application of FlaktGroup Systems to meet current efficiency requirements. Topics covered include:
- Vapour Sealing
- The Air System
- Fan Design
- Fresh Air Requirements
